iBin a Portable Recycle Bin for USB pendrive

We all know the lifesaver "Recycle Bin" in windows. By default, windows send all the deleted files to recycle bin, so that its not last for ever and can be recovered. This means you have a second chance of  retrieval and removal.

Where as the recycle bin doesn't cover the same process with USB Dirves. Once its deleted in USB drive, its been last for ever.

Fortunately, iBin does it.It's a portable application that you can throw on a USB flash drive to create a portable recycle bin. Basically, all you have to do is download iBin, copy it to your flash drive, and run it. From then on, whenever you try to delete an item on your flash drive, a window will pop up asking if you really want to erase it, or if you want to dump it into your iBin.

You can then right-click the iBin icon in your Windows system tray to undo the last dumping, clean the bin, or open up the Dumping Management window where you can clear or recover (recycle) selected items.

The application is available as a free download for all versions of Windows. 

 

SCRYBE TURNS TOUCHPAD INTO APP LAUNCHER

Synaptics launched a new app for its touch pads which supports the multi-touch gestures called "SCRYBE". 

Basically a touchpad performs basically the gestures such as pinching to zoom or using multiple fingers to scroll.

Here Scrybe adds a series of customizable applications such as,

• Launch an application
• Visit a web page
• Search for selected text using a search engine
• Cut/paste/copy
• Control playback in media players
• Rotate, crop, tag,or rate images
• Perform Windows system functions

Scrybe is available as a firmware update for Synaptics Gesture Suite 9.4. If you have supported hardware you can download the beta today.

REMOTE ACCESS SOFTWARE GOTOMYPC

The most advertised solution for remote accessing is "GoToMyPc". It supports in accessing your another machine. Finally its coming to Mac. 

Its named as "GoToMyMac". The pricetag is $19.95/mo to access one other computer, but there's also a 30-day free trial. That should come in handy, because GoToMyPC is a popular brand-name product debuting on a platform where there's already some solid competition.

Review:

The first alternative that comes to mind is Apple's Back To My Mac, which is part of MobileMe, and is also no good to you if you're looking to use your Mac to access a Windows machine. So comparatively "GoToMyMac" is more efficient with MAC Environment.

TOUCHFREEZE DISABLE THE TOUCHPAD AUTOMATICALLY

Annoyed when you are typing a document and accidentally the palm of your hand brushes the touchpad, changing the position of the cursor in your document or accidentally clicking on an option.

SEESMIC DESKTOP CLIENT DISPLAYS TWITTER LIST

Seesmic might not be the best Twitter client, but it is the first to support the new lists features. The new, downloadable version of Seesmic Desktop will display your Twitter lists in the left sidebar from any Twitter account you have (Seesmic lets you use one client for multiple accounts).

Seesmic Web will also be integrated with Facebook within the next month as developers are currently tweaking the application’s functionality on different browsers.

It looks like you can create a new list, but you can't, yet -- if you check Twitter's web interface, you'll see your list isn't really there. These features are coming sooner than later, though, and this limited support is enough for Seesmic to call "first!"

Seesmic Desktop, which integrated with both Facebook and Twitter, has also hit 3 million downloads, with the last 500,000 downloads taking place within the past month and a half.

ADOBE AIR 2.0 SUPPORTS MULTITOUCH WITH LESS CPU CYLCES

AIR 2.0 cross-platform app framework adds a bunch of little tweaks and a few major ones, including support for multitouch and gestures. 

Friends, whose machines support multitouch and gestures will start to see new apps that take advantage of zooming, rotating and more. Other less-flashy features include audio recording and opening files in their default applications. All these happen with a less usage of CPU cycles and memory.

Beta is available now and the full release is on 2010.

VOLERY-A SINGLE INSTALLER FOR ALL APPS

If you're going to be buying a new computer soon, or if you regularly work on a number of different computers, you're probably going to spend a fair bit of time installing the latest version of a bunch of applications that you use most frequently. And that means downloading a bunch of apps, and then clicking next a few dozen times to until everything is configured properly.

Or you can use Volery. This service lets you create a single installer for dozens of popular freeware applications. You can pick and choose from a long list of web browsers, multimedia applications, and other utilities. Honestly, almost every application I use on a daily basis was on the list. You don't get all the advanced installation options you might be used to, but the fact that you can leave the installer running unattended kind of makes up for that.

The program is free while in beta, but eventually the company plans to charge for access to the service. In other words, there will never be any offers to install the Google Toolbar or other applications that you didn't ask for during the installation process.

Final pricing hasn't been set yet, and while the company will begin charging for service, any installers you create with a beta account will continue to work even after Volery goes pro. Of course, if you want to create installers with the most up-to-date versions of each application, you'll need to pay up.

AVG FINALLY WITH FREE VERSION 9

AVG 9 is finally here -- and like other 2009/2010 ANTIVIRUS suites the emphasis in the new version is on speed, performance, and minimizing the impact on system resources.

Even the install process has been streamlined, with developers reducing the number of tedious, finger-numbing mouse clicks from 22 to 11. Thank you, AVG, for doing this. It's a little thing, but no techy enjoys tapping "next" nearly two dozen times.

Grisoft says scanning speeds have been increased by as much as 50% and that version 9 also reduces Windows boot lag by 10 to 15%. The firewall is more intuitive and has been made less intrusive -- another small but welcome change.

The paid versions are available now through the AVG web site, and we've been told that the much-loved free version will be good to go in ten days.

RIM RELEASES BLACKBEERY DESKTOP FOR MAC OS X

After a long, long wait, RIM have finally released their Blackberry Desktop sync product for Mac OS X.

The application allows you to sync your iTunes playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks with your BlackBerry, manage applications, apply software updates and backup and restore your device (with support for scheduled updates and encryption).

Blackberry Desktop for Mac can manage multiple BlackBerry devices and is a free download.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 8 RELEASED ON NET

Yesterday Adobe announced the latest version of Photoshop Elements, their slightly-lighterweight consumer-oriented photo editing application. New features in the Windows release include Photomerge Exposure which combines differently-exposed shots of the same scene to create uniformly-exposed shots (similar to High Dynamic Range photos), improved Online Sharing, and people recognition (much like Picasaa).

For Photoshop elements 8 on Mac (which ships in October), there's Bridge CS4 for image management, scene cleaning - to remove objects like people or cars across multiple photos - and TouchUp brushes to easily improve your snaps.

Photoshop Elements costs US$99 for the Mac or Windows edition - and Windows users can also pick up Photoshop Elements 8 and Premiere Elements 8 in a bundle for US$149. Windows users can also download a trial version of Photoshop Elements from the Adobe website.

With the average point a shoot camera these days boasting anywhere from 8 to 12 megapixels, image resolution and file sizes have gotten considerably bigger -- that's not to say more megapixels equals higher quality but let's leave that topic for another day. The thing is, sharing these large files online can be quite the challenge for inexperienced users, and even those who know their way around a computer will agree that manually resizing a bunch of pictures can be a painful task.

Luckily there are a number of tools you can use for speedily batch processing your image files.Image Resizer is a clone of the original Image Resizer Powertoy build for Windows XP, which has been created to extend its support to non-XP and 64-bit versions of Windows, including Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Using this free and open source

utility couldn't be simpler: just right-click one or more image files, select "Resize Pictures" from the context menu, choose a preset resolution and you are ready to go. You can also custom resize images by clicking the "Advanced" button and setting the parameters, or chose "Resize the original pictures" if you would like to overwrite them instead of making copies.

Image Resizer does its job remarkably well and characteristically simple but is rather limited in the features department -- you won't be able to convert between different graphic formats, for example, or bulk-rename files. If you are looking for something a bit more advanced, then VSO Image Resizer might be worth a look.

FIREFOX 3.6 THIS YEAR, 4.0 IN LATE 2010

Although Mozilla released Firefox version 3.5 not long ago, the team has been showing mockups of future designs. In addition to embracing glass on Windows Vista and 7, future versions will have reorganized interfaces. Previews of Firefox 4.0 suggest that it may have a combined and relocated reload, stop and go buttons, as well as a tab sidebar, tabs on top, and many other UI tweaks -- none of which are set in stone.

Mozilla is now indicating that we may see the launch of Firefox 4.0 next October or November. It has also reportedly updated its roadmap for the release of Firefox 3.6 and 3.7, with the former expected to debut later this year and the latter to arrive in the second quarter of next year. There are also reports that Fennec 1.0 -- the mobile version of Firefox -- will be made available at the same time as Firefox 3.6, and Fennec 2.0 with Firefox 4.0. If the suspense is killing you, fear not; pre-release builds are available.

MICROSOFT OFFICE 2010 BETA DOWNLOAD LEAKED ON NET

Work on Microsoft Office 2010,the next major release of Office is coming together quite nicely. A few screenshots and more information about the suite of productivity apps has started to leak out into the wild.

This release, (build 14.0.4417.1000) is the "Mondo edition" which has stood for an "Ultimate" version in the past. Strangely enough, Ars Technica points out that all references and SKUs to Ultimate have been removed. This is also the first build that references the applications as "Beta" signifying that Microsoft may be much farther along than originally expected.

According to a Microsoft Office employee, the "Mondo" name is used for testing purposes only and is never planned to have an associated SKU.

Office 2010 will be available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions and will be released on one DVD. Office includes: Office 2010 includes Access 2010, Excel 2010, InfoPath Designer 2010, InfoPath Filler 2010, OneNote 2010, Outlook 2010, PowerPoint 2010, Project 2010, Publisher 2010, SharePoint Designer 2010, SharePoint Workspace 2010, Visio 2010, and Word 2010.

A public preview of Office 2010 is expected to be released later this year and you can sign up to receive an early copy through legitimate channels.

FIREFOX ADD-ON HISTORY TREE

History Tree is a (Windows only) Firefox add-on that makes your browser history easier to navigate by displaying it as a tree diagram. It gives you a quick visual layout of the tabs and windows you've opened, and lets you find the page you're looking for even when the browser's back button won't reach that far. You can also switch to a page thumbnail view that makes it easier to find the page you need at a glance.

Like any good history browser, History Tree has a search function, but you might not need to use it. Its information is color-coded according to whether each page is currently open and whether it's accessible via your back button. Each page in the tree is also timestamped, so you can look for pages according to when you last saw them. If there's a page you don't recognize, you can click on the ? button or a thumbnail. If the tree's too cluttered, you can collapse part of it, display just one tab at a time, or set a filter to show only part of your history (only your current open tabs, for example).

In the first week after its release and after many favorable reviews – including our own-Opera Software has announced that its revamped desktop browser has been downloaded 10 million times and is now in use by millions of users around the world. For Opera, this is a record achievement.

If my own experience is anything to go by, these users are happy users. As I wrote before,Opera 10 is blazing fast – comparable to the speed I was experiencing with Google Chrome – and that’s a huge plus. It doesn’t hurt that everything ‘just works’ either, and I’m already so used to the (all new) Opera interface that it’d be hard for me to switch again.

Usually when we think of gaming, and more specifically PC graphics, two industry giants come to mind: ATI and Nvidia. Curiously this market is dominated by Intel, though, thanks to its nearly-ubiquitous integrated graphics chips. Although it's a well known fact that these chips are too slow for most games or other graphics-intensive tasks, many budget-conscious buyers are stuck with no other option for their entry-level laptops and netbooks.

GMABOOSTER is a useful little tool that allows you to overclock Intel's GMA 900 and 950 graphics cores found in the majority of these devices. More specifically, the application boosts the clock speed from 133/166MHz to a full 400MHz, or the same as the non-low voltage chipset found on standard laptops. The interesting thing about this is that it seems to be a simple instruction set sent to the chipset; it doesn’t change any voltage levels and it isn’t pushing the clock speed higher than it is designed to go.

The performance gains are actually pretty decent -- about 25% in pure GPU tests. You won't be playing Crysis on your netbook anytime soon, but the improvement could very well make the difference between being able to play a game or not. Obviously, you should expect to take a slight hit in battery performance as a result.

The software is "donationware" with a catch -- your free copy expires every week so you are forced to download a new version in order to continue using it. That said, if you like GMABOOSTERand use it often, there is also the option of making a voluntary donation and in exchange receive a serial number to permanently disable the expiration date check.

Requirements include having .NET Framework version 2.0 or higher installed and a system running the 32-bit version of Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7. Mac OS X and Linux versions are alsoavailable.

Now, MBB isn't portable in the truest sense of the word. It does require the .Net 2.0 runtimes but nearly every machine I work on has those installed at this point. If you don't, you will be prompted to do so and things will carry on without a hitch after you shut things down. Restoring your data is just as easy and speedy.
